February has come and gone, so here we are in March! Hang in there everybody...springtime is just around the corner!!!

We praise God for the very rewarding ministry trip that Fred and the India team had in February. I'm sure they are all still trying to adjust to being back in the States, so keep them in prayer. God continues to bless the ministry there in Manipur, India where they visited and ministered with the Awungshang family. Pray for Fred as he speaks here locally for a class at the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement on Monday night, March 9, at Olathe Bible Church, and also on Tuesday night in St. Joseph, Missouri. This is a wonderful course on world missions.

Thank you for your continued prayers as I minister in the "behind the scenes" administrative role at the H.I.M. Center. There are many needs and work to be done there in our headquarters site, which sometimes becomes overwhelming. Pray that God will continue to guide me and give me wisdom and peace each day with my priorities and work schedule.

We now have 2 weekly prayer groups meeting every Wednesday at our H.I.M. Center. One meets from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m., and another group meets from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. If you're in the Kansas City area and would like to attend one of the prayer groups, feel free to join us. Or if you cannot come, let us know of any praises/prayer requests that you may have, and we'll lift you up in prayer.

During this very difficult and stressful economical time our country is in, it is important to have a small group to be a part of...to help keep each other before the Lord. Sometimes the future looks very bleak in our world, but it is so encouraging to know that GOD is still in control...and nothing happens without His approval. May we all remember our hope is always in Jesus Christ...and nothing else!

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

In His service,

It's hard to believe another year has passed along...but with many blessings and memories for us to remember. "He has caused His wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate." Psalm 111:4

Christmas was quiet for me, but always very nice to have some "quiet moments" during the holidays. I always appreciate taking time off from "working" to just enjoy the holidays and also take time to contemplate and plan for the new year...both personally and in ministry. Appreciate prayers for guidance and discipline in my personal goals for the new year.

Here are some specific prayer requests coming up:

● Pray for Fred and a team that will be going to India during February.

● Pray for my good friend in Baltimore, Becky Kuhn, who is having a very serious surgery on January 13th. (This is a 9 - 12 hour surgery to remove and treat with hot chemo a rare type of cancer in her abdomen.) Also, pray for her family, as Becky's father, Wally Erdman, passed away this past week after a long illness. He and his wife, Dorothy, have been special partners with our ministry for many years.

● Pray for complete healing after cateract surgery for my sister-in-law, Theresa.

Thank you for your continued prayers and friendship in 2009! Anyway, I wanted to take this time to express my gratitude or "thanks giving" to those of you who have supported me and/or prayed for me during these last 20 years. Yes, believe it or not, but I moved out here in November 1988 to serve the Lord with Fred and Barbara Kornis! Wow! It's hard for me to believe that I've been here this long! God's faithfulness goes on and on! "Thank you, Lord, for this opportunity."

Speaking of Fred, pray for him and the team that are leaving for Nicaragua on this Friday for ministry there with the local pastors and youth groups. We are praising God for the way He provided some nice baseball equipment through a local school district, who donated the equipment for the outreach ministry down there. "Lord, thank you for this team; protect them and use them for your glory."

We're also praising the Lord...and actually, quite AMAZED...at how God brought about 15 of our mailing volunteers on this past Monday morning to help us get our huge, end of the year mailing out...by NOON that day!!! A BIG THANK YOU TO EACH ONE OF YOU WHO HELPED IN SOME WAY!!! (The old saying "many hands make light work"...really is true!) "Lord, thank you for each one, and bless them, as they have blessed us!"

As you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and friends, remember to give thanks for our country. God has blessed us for a long time, with many freedoms and resources that many other countries do not have. As we all know, we are living in critical times....but our HOPE is only found in HIM. "Jesus is the way, the truth and the life....and HE never changes!" "Lord, thank you for the freedom we have in Christ; help us to let your light shine in us so that others may know you."

Giving thanks with a grateful heart,

Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field." (Matthew 9:37-38)

Also, as a result of this class, I was impressed to pray on a regular basis for the unreached peoples groups in our world. A helpful tool that I am using is a daily prayer guide from the Operation World website. It was mentioned in our Perspectives studies that many times prayer is the only thing that will break through the darkness of many unreached peoples groups. May I encourage you to pray with me for these groups.

Not only is "darkness" found in unreached peoples groups in other countries, but we need to pray fervently for those "walking in darkness" Someone told me that this is the 2nd time in history that Easter has come this early! Wow! Maybe the Lord is coming back real soon....wouldn't that be wonderful! But until then, we "press on....in Jesus name"!

It is interesting how the Lord provides for us sometimes. Recently, I had to have an unexpected brake job done on my car, and the cost was about $600! Well, I would not have had $600 to pay for the job if my tax refund had not come! It actually came the day before I had the brakes inspected. Also, I had planned to put the tax refund in an emergency fund....so before I had a chance to put it away for the next "emergency," the emergency arrived! Ha! Oh, well...it went to a good cause! :-)

I continue to enjoy the Perspectives missions class that I've been attending and trying to keep up with the homework....so far, so good! Speaking of the class, pray for Fred as he is the instructor for the Perspectives class this week. Also, pray that through this 15 week Perspectives course that laborers will be called to the mission field. "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Matthew 9:37-38)

Pray for Fred as he will be leaving on March 27th for ministry in India. Also, pray for us who will be "holding down the fort" at the HIM Center while he is gone. Our annual staff retreat is coming up soon during the first weekend in May. Lots to do before then!

Thank you for your prayers and partnership in my ministry. May you have a blessed Easter with your family and friends. "HE IS RISEN!"

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.heartforhim.org/e-mail-updates-vicky-rogers/2008/2/15/vickys-e-mail-update-february-2008.html"><rss:title>Vicky's E-mail Update, February 2008</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.heartforhim.org/e-mail-updates-vicky-rogers/2008/2/15/vickys-e-mail-update-february-2008.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Greetings, dear friends,

Well, I'm sure we all will be ready for spring...whenever it comes! It has been a blessing to live close to the HIM Center during these cold, wintery months.

Our consulting meetings in Dallas, Texas went very well last month (see the photos here in my photo gallery). It was a time of refreshing and defining goals, etc. for H.I.M. We would appreciate prayer that we will put into practice what we have learned.

On the first night of the Perspectives class on world missions that I am attending, I had a minor auto accident on the way to the class. As I was getting ready to get in the left lane to turn left, I ended up driving up on the median as it was hard to see at night...the car was totally on top of the median...so I could not get the car off of it. Anyway, my cell phone was not working, so I could not call anyone to help me, and cars were traveling very fast on both sides of the median (for those of you who live in the KC area, it was a median in the middle of Metcalf Avenue around 6:00 p.m. with lots of traffic!). Finally, a couple of police officers stopped and tried to help me get off the median, but I ended up having the car towed off of the median. Before the tow truck came, the police officer let me sit in his warm police car until the tow truck came, as it was around 18 degrees outside! The Lord always takes care of us, and sometimes He uses police officers to help us! PTL for these community servants! Nevertheless, I did not make it to class that night, but thankfully, have made it every night since then! :-) (By the way, I was able to drive the car home; it had some damage to the exhaust pipe underneath the car, but I was able to get it repaired recently.) "Thank you, Lord, for your protection!"

The Perspectives class has been great...even the homework has been rewarding...see the following insights. (It's been a long time since I have had "homework" to do! :-) God revealed His purpose in Genesis 12:1-3...to bless all the families of the earth. His desire was that He would be glorified in global worship through all the peoples of the earth...thus, the reason for missions...that God would be glorified. Throughout the Bible starting in Genesis, God makes His purpose known. I personally count it a privilege to be a part of this missions mandate through my ministry with Heartland International Ministries, and all the connections that we have with our H.I.M. international partners all around the world! Even though my ministry is "behind the scenes" and not on the "frontlines" of missions, I realize that God sees my administrative ministry to be an important part of His purpose. To glorify Him is my only reason for doing what I do.

Thank you for your friendship and partnership in my ministry, and thank you for your prayers! Happy Valentine's Day!

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org

</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
