PRAISE: Fred has been ministering at a youth camp this week in Polo, Missouri, and last night after he spoke, about 20 teens came forward to seek the Lord...many were in tears. Pray for these teens to continue on in the Lord and grow closer to Him.

PRAISE: Roger Staley has come "on board" with H.I.M. as a "missionary-evangelist" in our local area. He and his wife, Anita, have been long-time friends and volunteers with us here in the Kansas City area, so we are excited to have them represent our mission!

PRAISE: For those of you who prayed for Marilyn (my friend Dennis' sister), she was scheduled to leave the ICU today at the hospital in MI and go to a room (she had been in ICU for about 2 weeks after her brain surgery). The doctors say she is getting along very well, for which we praise God! Thank you for praying for Marilyn.

PRAISE: I'm looking forward to the overnight visit coming up soon, of my friend Bonnie and her husband Ed, as they travel out to the Midwest from Baltimore. Pray for safety as they travel.

Thank you for your friendship and partnership in my ministry, and especially your prayers!

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org

Vicky's E-mail Update, June 2008

Well, can you believe it is June already?! We have had lots of storms moving through the Midwest this year, especially during this tornado season of the year. But thankfully (and so far!), we have not had any storm or tornado damage in our local area. Thanks for remembering to pray for us during the stormy season out here. (My dear sister in VA seems to always call me and check on me in the morning after she hears of the storms that passed through the Midwest the day before. Actually, the East coast has been experiencing similar type weather, which is unusual for them to have tornado watches or warnings.) The Lord must be coming soon with all the strange weather patterns! “Lord, help us to be ready!”

Life and ministry presses on for us here at the HIM Center. Speaking of that, pray for the audit that will be going on during this week (June 10-13). Pray that all will go smoothly with the audit, as I will be working with the auditor during those days. Lots to do! (This is an important audit, as it is a requirement for becoming a member of the ECFA – Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.)

Also, we are planning to have our H.I.M. 5th year anniversary celebration on September 20th. More details to follow! Appreciate your prayers for the planning and provisions for this special event....and maybe some of you may be able to come! It was a lot of fun....a good day to relax and have fun before all the serious meetings the next day!

Also, I am happy to say I finished my Perspectives Class! PTL!! It was a great class, but I must say, I was ready to have a break from all the homework! If you've never taken this class, it is a great way to learn more about missions, and if you're in missions already, it is a great encouragement as you "press on" in the ministry. Bob Zoller and I did our class project together, as we did research on the Santhal people group, which is one of the unreached peoples groups that Fred and Bob have ministered with in India with some of our international partners. So it was a very interesting project to do! Pray that many students from this course will catch a vision for the mission field. "...the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field." (Matthew 9:37-38)

Also, as a result of this class, I was impressed to pray on a regular basis for the unreached peoples groups in our world. A helpful tool that I am using is a daily prayer guide from the Operation World website. It was mentioned in our Perspectives studies that many times prayer is the only thing that will break through the darkness of many unreached peoples groups. May I encourage you to pray with me for these groups.

Not only is "darkness" found in unreached peoples groups in other countries, but we need to pray fervently for those "walking in darkness" here in our own country. May God help us to have a discerning spirit of what is good and evil around us.

Thank you for your friendship and partnership in my ministry, and thank you for your prayers!

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org

Vicky's E-mail Update, April 2008

Greetings, dear friends,

It's beginning to feel a lot like....SPRING! Of course, "April showers bring May flowers"...so that is what we're experiencing here in Kansas City this week! (...showers, that is!)

Also, we've had some excitement here in our area with the KU basketball championship happening this week! Woo hoo.....way to go, KU! It's interesting to me that the last time KU won the championship was 20 years ago in April 1988. That was the month that I flew out to KC to visit the area seeking the Lord's will about coming out here....and so, history speaks for itself....here I am 20 years later!

Fred has been in India for a couple of weeks and having good ministry visits with our national workers over there. He also had the privilege of dedicating the "Shalom Ministry Centre" where Ramayon and Rimis Awungshang and girls are ministering. I'm sure some of you who receive this e-mail remember them. Pray for Fred as he winds up his ministry in India this week and travels back to the USA next week.

The Perspectives missions class continues to be a blessing, even though it is a lot of work trying to keep up with the homework (there are only a few more weeks of class!). More and more I am reminded of the many unreached peoples around the world that we are reaching through our ministry of H.I.M., and it is encouraging to me to know that what I do here at home "holding down the fort" while others go to the field, plays a part in reaching those unreached people groups. Pray for our national H.I.M. partners who are ministering in these areas to their own people group.

Also, we would appreciate prayers for our upcoming Board/Staff retreat during the first weekend in May. We will have several of our staff coming from other locations here in the USA, as well as some other countries. Pray for wisdom and guidance in the preparations before everyone arrives, and also that God will bless our time together and that we will be an encouragement to one another as we press on in the ministry around the world.

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org

Vicky's E-mail Update, March 2008

Greetings, dear friends,

Well, can you believe that Easter is just 2 weeks away?! Recently, I had to have an unexpected brake job done on my car, and the cost was about $600! Well, I would not have had $600 to pay for the job if my tax refund had not come! It actually came the day before I had the brakes inspected. Also, I had planned to put the tax refund in an emergency fund....so before I had a chance to put it away for the next "emergency," the emergency arrived! :-) (By the way, I was able to drive the car home; it had some damage to the exhaust pipe underneath the car, but I was able to get it repaired recently.) "Thank you, Lord, for your protection!"

The Perspectives class has been great...even the homework has been rewarding...see the following insights. (It's been a long time since I have had "homework" to do! :-) God revealed His purpose in Genesis 12:1-3...to bless all the families of the earth. His desire was that He would be glorified in global worship through all the peoples of the earth...thus, the reason for missions...that God would be glorified. Throughout the Bible starting in Genesis, God makes His purpose known. I personally count it a privilege to be a part of this missions mandate through my ministry with Heartland International Ministries, and all the connections that we have with our H.I.M. international partners all around the world! Even though my ministry is "behind the scenes" and not on the "frontlines" of missions, I realize that God sees my administrative ministry to be an important part of His purpose. To glorify Him is my only reason for doing what I do.

Thank you for your friendship and partnership in my ministry, and thank you for your prayers! Happy Valentine's Day!

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org

Vicky's E-mail Update, January 2008

Greetings, dear friends,

Happy New Year!!! Trust you had a nice Christmas and are ready for this new year. It is a time when most of us think about new goals for our personal lives, so appreciate prayers that I would exercise self-discipline in working on these areas in my life. Also, H.I.M. is working on new goals for our ministry this year; in fact, our headquarters staff (Fred, Andy & I) are flying to Dallas, Texas on January 9 – 12 to have special training/meetings with some special friends of ours, who are experienced in helping organizations with specific goals, etc. for their ministries. So, we would appreciate special prayer for this time of training, and for guidance for the future goals of Heartland International Ministries. Just as my pastor mentioned on Sunday, God had a plan in creating the universe. He also gave Noah a specific design for the ark, and Paul had a missionary plan for his journeys. So we see from the Scriptures many examples which prove that goals and plans were important.

Also, I am planning to take the Perspectives class that is being taught in the Kansas City area starting on January 22, which is a class specifically targeted to those that want to learn more about missions and mission work. Here is some info on that:

"Since 1974, more than 70,000 believers in North America have experienced the Perspectives course. In 15 lessons, you'll engage with a range of dynamic speakers. Weekly readings and study will help you dig even deeper. For more details about the class, college credit opportunities, etc., go to www.perspectives.org."

One of the "dynamic speakers" is our own Fred Kornis! So appreciate prayers for this opportunity to meet with other mission organizations and mission minded people...and also to learn and apply what is being taught.

May this new year be one filled with many special blessings for you, and thank you for your continued friendship and interest in my ministry. God bless you!

Sincerely,

Vicky Rogers
Heartland International Ministries
www.heartforhim.org
