How many of you reading this can say you feel like you are doing exactly what you are called to be doing at this time in your life?
As I sit here, I can honestly say I have never been more happy, fulfilled and content than I am at this time in my life. It’s hard to believe that just one year ago I was teaching and struggling with the feeling that God had more in store for me than being in the classroom. Besides, teaching was what I spent so much time and money getting an education for, it’s what I knew I was good at, and it was helping provide for my family. BUT, I couldn’t deny what God was laying on my heart. Was He really asking me to quit teaching and go into ministry and mission work? Me?
Now looking back, I can see how much God has worked in my life, has stretched me and opened doors I never dreamed possible. One year ago I would have never imagined I would be a missionary and living my dream life – serving, teaching and giving to others all in His name. I absolutely LOVE my “job” (I don’t really consider it a job because I never feel like it’s work, it’s just doing what I love) and reaching and equipping others for Christ.
What is He calling you to do? Maybe He’s calling you to be a friend to someone at work. Maybe He’s calling you to start a Bible study group. Maybe He’s calling you to be a more patient, loving, gently mom or dad. Whatever it is, LISTEN to what He’s laying on your heart. Who knows where you’ll be in a year from now if you listen and follow. Believe me when I say, it’s NOT about the paycheck, it’s not about what the world thinks you should do, and it may not even make sense at the time. Just trust.
May God bless you and use your gifts to glorify Him. May you be sensitive to what He is laying on your heart and be BOLD in trusting that calling. You too can live the life of your dreams according to HIS standards, not the standards of this world.
